Busy Weekend

It has been a big weekend and it's not even the weekend yet.

It was my anniversary yesterday, 4 years and we are happier then ever for sticking it out and staying together.

On our anniversary we do things a little differently. We take turns planning what we are going to do, this year it was my turn. We started with chocolate pancakes, and cherries then dropped our beautiful little girl at her Aunties for the day.

Next we visited every comic book store we could find in the and around Vancouver...oh and a few Yarn stores. Let me just say now if you have not been to Baaad Anna's GO.

It took us all day to get around including an extra long detour in the city in which the restaurant I wanted to take Marc too was closed -_- so we walked half the city to get noodles.

(that sign on the door says they are closed till tomorrow :( BUT we got noodles so all was well)

This house is in Kitsalano and I'm going to live here one day. I don't know how I don't know when but seriously don't bother me with details clearly you can see I belong in this house.

Ok sooo because I'm such a dunce I didn't take separate pictures of all my goodies so you are going to have to bare with me as I attempt to sort out everything here on the fly.

To understand the silver bullet in the back you need to meet Melissa of Miso Crafty Knits I blame her. It's tea from DAVID'sTEA and I'm about to become the worlds most avid tea drinker because of it, I got Banana Nut Bread and seriously it is the most amazing stuff EVER.

SOOO that aside I bought some seriously beautiful MalabrigoYARN (this will be a first try for me) from Baaad Anna's for Marc's new hat the suddenly he had to have (as we entered into the yarn store) I also got some tea pins and blocking wires.

The other yarn you are seeing is from Three Bags Full and it's SweetGeorgia Yarn in Bohem and just so you know SweetGeorgia is a local Vancouver based Yarn company and they are pretty AMAZING.

I also got two new books. The Art of for Kiki's Delivery service and Arrietty these movies are done buy Studio Ghibli and they are amazing. I will do a whole post just for these little babies.

The last thing I got was the little guy in the back, being all ninja and blending in with my quilt. He is called a Mini Munny, he is 4" tall made out of vinyl and is DIY.  You can get a template here and I am somehow going to use it to turn my little guy into artwork and find him a name (which I am surprising excited about). I will probably do a giveaway in the near future to help me find a new name for him/her/it (it doesn't have to be any gender if it doesn't want).

OK so back on track after doing all our shopping etc we went to the movies in which I told Marc we were going to see Finding Nemo in 3D...and he believed me HAHA. What we actually saw was Hotel Transylvania and it was EPIC! I am totally in love with Mavis (go see the movie you'll understand)

So last but not least is all the other stuff in my pictures.

From the first picture:

That picture of the woman and the prayer rolls came from my sister who is in India right now becoming a yogi. YAY Kisane you rock lady!

The thread is of course Aurifil and will be coming to you in a giveaway very very soon! So stay tuned for that.

The lip balm and the moisturizer (from the second picture) are from Long Winter Farm and they are pretty much my new snack food. I mean seriously who wouldn't chew their lips off when they are covered in "Maple Almond" or "Unicorn Farts".

The fabric on the bottom in both pictures is from Westwood Acres on etsy and this lady has amazing prices and crazy fast shipping.

From the second picture:

The squares came from a Vomit swap I did that was hosted by Angie at Gnomeangel.

SOOO what are you doing this Turkey weekend?

OHHH before i forget I am going to be going to Knit City next weekend if anyone is going and wants to meet up.

My First Craft Book Project

I have made things, lots of things but I have never used a pattern from a crafting book.

This weekend I changed that.

I have had Zakka Style for about 5 months and have committed to making the little sewing kit since Katy at I'm a Ginger Monkey blogged about it...honestly that's why I bought the book.

Well guess what???

I finally did it!!!

I added a snap instead of the straps and changed how it which side opens first but other then that this pattern is too perfect to change.

The pattern was easy to read and was a breeze to make.

If you don't have this book by Rashida Coleman-Hale (Creator of fabric lines such as Washi) you should deffinetly go and get it!

Exciting News

Very soon something exciting will be happening here.

It may be something entirely different.

But you can guarentee SOMETHING will be happening here.

My HR Hexy MF

Katy one of the brilliant minds behind Fat Quaterly has started a Quilt Along.

The quilt dubbed (at the moment) Hexy MF looks something like this...

Photo courtesy of Katy's Template Set

This quilt is huge measuring 72" x 84" containing 74 1.5" hexys, a few 1" hexys and a bunch of applique (vines, leaves the actual hexy's).

I think I'm crazy doing this...BUT it will look so cool when it's done!

Mine will be made up of Heather Ross fabrics, mostly Munki Munki with a few Far Far Away III prints thrown in for good measure. I know some of the photos aren't that great BUT hey what can you do :)

This is going to be a fairly long process for me. SO we'll see how I go.

The Fat Quarterly blog will be posting all the instructions as we move along.

What do Constellations and Zombies have in Common?

A long long time ago in a galaxy far away...no seriously!

A lady named Katy released a pattern in a ezine called Fat Quarterly, which you should sign up for *waves hand like a Jedi* ANYWAY the pattern was called Constellation and I was a little smitten.

A little while later I saw the Happy Mochi Yum Yum (delish fabric designed by Happy Zombie) Version of the Constellation pattern aka 'Zombie Constellation'

Thus this quilt was born.

She measures just about 80 x 80
Background in Kona Cotton - Candy
Stars and Binding made from - 1001 Peeps by Lizzy House
I did the quilting. It's a squirly stipple with random stars.

My 2 Cents

A few posts ago I mentioned that I was going to play along with Chantalle of Fat Mum Slim Instagram photo a day challenge.

Today if you go over and read her blog {it’s ok I’ll wait} you will have seen that someone nicked her design and didn’t even give her credit, didn’t even make it their own just downright copied and pasted.

YUCK

She has a quote on her blog by Jim by Jim Jarmusch that I think is pretty awesome and I just wanted to add a thought from Emily Carr one of my favourite painters.

If you're going to lick the icing off somebody else's cake you won't be nourished and it won't do you any good, - or you might find the cake had caraway seeds, and you hate them. (Emily Carr)

I have no problem with poetic license, no problem with taking something in and putting back up all done up and screaming your name BUT there is no need for stealing in a world so obviously full of inspiration.

Anyway that's my 2 cents.

Last Night...

...I slept under a quilt...for the first time EVER {well the second night ever} and I have to say was an amazingly satisfying feeling it was.

Helped by the fact this quilt has been almost a year in the making.

This is my first big finish EVER and for the year :D

Now to move onto the other projects I said I would do/ half started etc

I have even banned myself from started new knitting projects until I finish the back log.

So I better get going!

Misfit Bee - March

How was every one's love day yesterday?

Hubs got me some 2 skeins of Madeline Tosh and  a skein of Pigeonroof Studios yarn, for some socks *squee* pictures to follow I promise!

Ok so that aside lets talk about the Misfit BEE :D

I have decided to run it from my blog because after this I there will be no more Misfit swaps from a prospective anyway. I will still run some from my blog and that means you can run them from yours too! So if you are interested AWESOME and if not maybe next time :D

So back to the BEE March is my month and I chose...

{drum roll please}

The Scrap Vomit - Block B created by my new sis Katy!

WHOO!

I sent the ladies some black and blue squares to use and I CAN'T wait to see what they come up with.

Speaking of which I should get cracking on making some squares myself :D
