Australian Valour

Recently a movement has started up in the quilting world designed to help American Soldiers by making quilts. A program called Just One Star Can Comfort a Soldier had quilters/sewests every where making stars for this valiant young servicemen and women.

So a friend of mine Cara got in on the action and decided Canadian servicemen needed some support too. She has designed a quilt using the Canadian maple leaf and could use your help.

After seeing these stars of valour for both the Canadians and the Americans I though we Australians need to do our part for the ANZAC's. So thanks to Cara we now how a quilting goal too.

12 quilts by the end of June and I need YOUR help making stars. Each quilt with be 62" x 74" star is 12.5" square and we need 25 gold and 5 white for each quilt.

There is a pattern for the block here .

FNSI March 18th.

OK so last night was the Friday Night Sew In and I'm seriously considering making 1 night a month Friday night sew in. I made 1 1/2 mug rugs

This one I worked on today and is now finished...I LOVE IT...I will have to find every excuse I can to use it ^_^

I also worked on my January fruit of the month (The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery)...(just a little behind) and I'm getting a little frustrated. I am stitching on Linen and I keep misplacing my stitches and having to un-stitch and start again. Very frustrating to say the least.

I am also trying to lean embroidery...thanks to Urban Threads pattern and embroidery basics from Wild Olive. I wanted to try this pattern first before moving onto a Cinderberry Stitches pattern.

This is what I have so far LOL so I will have to keep you posted on that one.

What did you get up to last night?

I am Right Brain

Mercedes Benz is not a company I would usually be interested in (I'm a VW girl myself) but I think they really coined it when they put these adverts out.

I am right brain.
I am creativity. A free spirit. I am passion.
Yearning. Sensuality. I am the sound of raring laughter.
I am taste. The feeling of sand beneath bare feet.
I am movement. Vivid Colours.
I am the urge to paint on an empty canvas.
I am boundless imagination. Art. Poetry. I sense. I feel.
I am everything I wanted to be.

What are you?

PB&J Game and what I've been up to...

PB&J

SO I have discovered something truly wonderful.

PB&J or Peanut Butter and Jelly

*swoon*

These pillows made by Beth over at Etsy.com are a must and I think I must.

I have tried it once before and it never caught on...but I tried it the other day and now I can't stop eating it. Especially with my Cranberry, Raspberry and Strawberry jam...mmmm

My new found love of PB&J  has inspired me to make an x stitch & mug run to to celebrate and I have decided to use a x stitch from The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery.

I am also doing a class on basic x stitch using this pattern. SO if you would like to join head on over to Amanda & Ashleigh's store to get yourself a pattern (p.s. the webby has a list of all the tools needed, you'll have to buy the pattern to get the colours.

I'm sewing onto water soluble aida on a strip of Sunkissed so I can make my mug rug after I'm finished stitching. I also had to change the colours a bit because I didn't have all the ones called for but I think it's turning out just fine (and I kind of like the freedom of picking my own colours *squee*).

p.s. I will be making another one of these on Linen for the class ^_^

On a side note...things I am looking forward too:

Mug Rug Madness - 10 days of tips & tutorials
