Spoilt!

Christmas season is the best holiday season on the year {closely followed by Halloween}.

This year a friend of mine on Twitter Amy decided to organize a secret Santa swap on twitter, now known as the #ssswap haha

Anyway I the deadline or shipping has passed and we are all waiting impatiently. Well yesterday I stopped waiting and started squealing.

Hubs comes in with the mail and says "babe you got a package from someone named Monica." I squeal Happy Zombie and hubs shakes his head and walks away.
Haha Monica you are awesome!

After 3 layers of wrapping {gah} I found this amazing awesomeness waiting for me.

If the book itself wasn't enough she also included some DMC Floss, DMC colour card things, AND a composition book.

I am so spoilt!

Thank you to Amy for organising and Monic for spoiling me rotten.

For the love of...crafting

My good friend Sharon {http://aprairiesunrise.blogspot.com/} has a weekly face 5 link up called for the love of...and each week she picks a new topic so this week is crafting. What a perfect subject.

In order:

Gingerbread for the cookie swap that my cousin organized.

My finished embroidery and other little goodies for the twitter #ssswap.

My first 3 stars for the Oh My Stars QAL

My pouch for my #ssswap presents

And last but not least my sewing corner. I have a table etc down stairs but during the week I see upstairs so I can still spend time with my family.

Got over to Sharon's blog and check out the rest of the linkys.

Can I ask you a favor?

I am working on something.

Something that could turn out to be very very cool. Unfortunately I can't say more then that at the moment. But I promise to keep you updated :)

So what you may ask do I need from you? Well because I have some many friends who live in my phone that mean so much to me I want you to be apart of this very important thing.

What's the catch?

I would like you to email me a picture of your skyline. That's all. A picture of your favourite place in the world.

If you would like to help please email your pictures to littlecreatable@gmail.com or mention @littlecreatable in the tweet or something :D

Goings on

There is always a lot going on in life...always.

But I am loving my job and my little baby is growing and growing.

All that aside I need to admit that I have been down right nasty and completely irresponsible. I had a responsibility to finish a hoop almost a month ago and didn't. Partner I am so sorry. I have no excuse I just hope one day you can forgive me. On th lighter side of that confession if there is one here is the hoop.

I also decided to join my first QAL. Oh My Stars. I am super excited this quilt along especially since I am doing it with Amy

I have the orange and purple color ways of 1001 Peeps :DI also got a few other things for upcoming projects.

Hideaway for my tree quilt and Munki Munki Foxes just plain cute!

For the Love of...Home

How fortunate for me that my sweet friend Sharon has started up her Fav 5 again with a twist.

"For the Love of..." will have a new theme every week and you'll have to Sunday to get your blog post up and linked.

Oh if you are looking for the giveaway you need to go here

This weeks "For the Love of..." theme is?

home [hohm]  Show IPA
at ease, at rest, central, down home, familiar, familyhomely, homey, household, in one'selement, in the bosom, inland, internallocal, national, native

(This definition came from thesaurus.com)

Some of you may know that recently I moved. Not just down the street, around the corner or even across the country but across the ocean. The biggest ocean.

From Brisbane, Australia to Langley, Canada. A total of 11908.232 kms.

Seems like a lot when I lay it all out like that, but I had a good reason...

This beautiful little girl.

This man who I love dearly despite everything I put him through.

 And you know what?

I think I'm going to like it here...a lot.

When you live in a country that doesn't really have defined seasons you don't get to see beautiful colours like this.

Because this isn’t the first time that I’ve moved internationally {hoping it’s my last} I’ve learned that Home isn’t necessarily a place but the people I am with.

Don’t get me wrong in a few weeks Ill start complaining about the lack of sun and by the time it snows I’ll probably be so cold that I’ll have to wrap in 10 different layers before I can get out of bed.

SO for now I think I will just enjoy what I have ;) don’t you agree???

*gasp*

I don't know if many of you know but I have a CrackBerry {blackberry} and as much as I love it it's the bane of my existence.

So today is the last straw I'm taking my phone in to be repaired.

I have not home phone and no Internet {or computer for that matter} so I'll be spending the next week in what will feel like H E double hockey sticks ;)

Just thought I'd give you the heads up. I'm not dead and I'm not ignoring you, I'm just in technology exile  deep, Jedi meditation.

BUT as a fair well I have something lined up for Monday the 17th...a something that may have something to do with Miss Sha of Craizee Corner so make sure you come back then.

The Book Thief

Recently I’ve tried to broaden my reading genre. Usually I’m a fantasy girl, however, while in the bookstore about to buy ‘The Secret Life of Bee’s’ I saw this book.

In Nazi Germany there is a little girl of 9 who sees her brother die before being given up to a foster family by a mother she will never see again. And that’s just in the first chapter.
This book is so different to what I’m used to. I find myself getting so enraged about the treatment of the Jewish people in Germany at that time, so caught up in this little girls struggles and joys.
Though I find it difficult to keep going I HAVE to find out what happens in the end.
Does Leisel find happiness? Does Rudy get his kiss? Will the war ever end?
I’ll let you know.
What are you getting into right now?

Oh and why you are here don't forget to Pay it Forward

*hugs*

Heather Ross - Mendocino

What started off as this...

Quickly turned into LOVE.
See that pink print in on the left? That is my favourite and thanks to a Amy aka The Mermaid Lady I have a small amount to sew with. But since I don’t have a sewing machine I had to think of something else.
In my previous post {What would you do without a sewing machine?} I confessed to  a lot of xStitching.
So can you guess what I did with this beautiful print?

Thank you to my twitter cheer squad I really appreciate the encouragement ;)

Pay it Forward

Do you remember that movie with Haley Joel Osment? Makes me cry every time and totally inspires me to do something good for our reckless world.

Well there are a quilt a few crafty peeps jumping on this bandwagon now Amanda over at Little Treasures by Amanda {http://littletreasuresbyamanda.blogspot.com/?m=1} and quite a few of my Misfit friends {http://misfitquilters.blogspot.com/?m=0} are in on it too.

So here's the deal:

1. I'll make something handmade for the first 6 people who comment on this post. What I make will be a surprise and will arrive to you when you least expect it. Doesn't everyone love a surprise?

2. I have 365 days to make and deliver it to you. But there's a little catch, to get a handmade giftie from me, you have to play too! This means you take the pledge to send something handmade to 3 of your blog readers. It doesn't have to be a quilt, just something handmade! Easy right?

3. As stated in #2 you have to have a blog.

4. Once you comment here, you have to post about Pay it Forward on your blog and keep it going!

So leave a comment and get ready for the gift :D

What would you do without a sewing machine?

This week Astrid {Husqvarna Viking - Emerald 203} went to a new home.

She was only with me for 6 months but we did many things and she helped me learn so much.

At the moment I'm not in a position to get a new machine so I have to make do with my hands. I don't knit or crochet yet so all I can do is hand sew and cross stitch.

So far I have only completed one piece I'll be starting my next soon. But I have also been looking around for nice large patterns. Any recommendations?
I found this pattern ABC Halloween sampler it's pretty sweet {http://www.lizziekate.com/lizzie-k46-abc-halloween.html}

This on is from Shepard's Bush {http://www.shepherdsbush.net/products/kits/other/beekeeper's.html} the Beekeeper's Cottage.

It's hard without a sewing machine BUT it's nice to be able to hone a different skill for a time. Speaking of skills I've also gotten the Clover embroidery threader and some Cosmo floss and WOW do they make everything easier.

The floss is so smooth and has the most beautiful feel I fully encourage you to try it if you haven't yet and the threader well do I need to say more ;)

What would you do without a sewing machine?

*hugs*

P.s. Excuse the mess I'm still blogging on my phone :)
