All that was here was:
a hand painted pot
dirt
seeds and hope

My 15 month old daughter painted and planted this, how amazing it is to see life grow.

In the works

I have quite a few projects in the work at the moment BUT I've had to put my own things on hold to do a few things for some fellow Misfits.

These two snail's trail blocks are SUPER CUTE and made out of the most luscious fabric: Hoo's in the Forest by lovely Shari of Doohikey Designs.

I've also been working on my Hoop swap here is a sneak peak :D

I'm still working out my stitches BUT it's looking good.

What have you been working on?

The Book Thief

Recently I’ve tried to broaden my reading genre. Usually I’m a fantasy girl, however, while in the bookstore about to buy ‘The Secret Life of Bee’s’ I saw this book.

In Nazi Germany there is a little girl of 9 who sees her brother die before being given up to a foster family by a mother she will never see again. And that’s just in the first chapter.
This book is so different to what I’m used to. I find myself getting so enraged about the treatment of the Jewish people in Germany at that time, so caught up in this little girls struggles and joys.
Though I find it difficult to keep going I HAVE to find out what happens in the end.
Does Leisel find happiness? Does Rudy get his kiss? Will the war ever end?
I’ll let you know.
What are you getting into right now?

Oh and why you are here don't forget to Pay it Forward

Heather Ross - Mendocino

What started off as this...

Quickly turned into LOVE.
See that pink print in on the left? That is my favourite and thanks to a Amy aka The Mermaid Lady I have a small amount to sew with. But since I don’t have a sewing machine I had to think of something else.
In my previous post {What would you do without a sewing machine?} I confessed to  a lot of xStitching.
So can you guess what I did with this beautiful print?

Thank you to my twitter cheer squad I really appreciate the encouragement ;)

Pay it Forward

Do you remember that movie with Haley Joel Osment? Makes me cry every time and totally inspires me to do something good for our reckless world.

Well there are a quilt a few crafty peeps jumping on this bandwagon now Amanda over at Little Treasures by Amanda {http://littletreasuresbyamanda.blogspot.com/?m=1} and quite a few of my Misfit friends {http://misfitquilters.blogspot.com/?m=0} are in on it too.

So here's the deal:

1. I'll make something handmade for the first 6 people who comment on this post. What I make will be a surprise and will arrive to you when you least expect it. Doesn't everyone love a surprise?

2. I have 365 days to make and deliver it to you. But there's a little catch, to get a handmade giftie from me, you have to play too! This means you take the pledge to send something handmade to 3 of your blog readers. It doesn't have to be a quilt, just something handmade! Easy right?

3. As stated in #2 you have to have a blog.

4. Once you comment here, you have to post about Pay it Forward on your blog and keep it going!

So leave a comment and get ready for the gift :D

What would you do without a sewing machine?

This week Astrid {Husqvarna Viking - Emerald 203} went to a new home.

She was only with me for 6 months but we did many things and she helped me learn so much.

At the moment I'm not in a position to get a new machine so I have to make do with my hands. I don't knit or crochet yet so all I can do is hand sew and cross stitch.

So far I have only completed one piece I'll be starting my next soon. But I have also been looking around for nice large patterns. Any recommendations?
I found this pattern ABC Halloween sampler it's pretty sweet {http://www.lizziekate.com/lizzie-k46-abc-halloween.html}

This on is from Shepard's Bush {http://www.shepherdsbush.net/products/kits/other/beekeeper's.html} the Beekeeper's Cottage.

It's hard without a sewing machine BUT it's nice to be able to hone a different skill for a time. Speaking of skills I've also gotten the Clover embroidery threader and some Cosmo floss and WOW do they make everything easier.

The floss is so smooth and has the most beautiful feel I fully encourage you to try it if you haven't yet and the threader well do I need to say more ;)

What would you do without a sewing machine?
